“I’ve been wanting to do a History Challenge for quite a while, and the new world coming out seems like the perfect excuse. My other new game is based solely on the Mermaids.. this one is based on Island Sims and the challenge itself.”
When I started this challenge, I had so many fun ideas floating around in my, admittedly, overactive imagination. I quickly started to find out it’s very hard to reconcile the game play with the story. There’s so many things that the challenge asks you to do that are hard to reconcile with an understandable story. I have pulled this story back off hiatus, thankfully, and have been able to come up with ways to involve the challenge rules into the story.
One final note: This story has a “bit” of a spin-off coming soon. Two members of this story will be setting off on their own to start a new challenge/story. Expect to see this launching in the next month or two! AND – even better – it will be moving to Twitch! For more information, see The Timeline Children page!
The chapter in which we meet Utel, and get to follow her through her vision, and the very beginning of her quest. We also get to see her opinion of Nork, and a glimpse of the tribe she is coming from.
We meet Nork, and the two protagonists set off on their long journey to their new home. Nork, predictably, can’t do anything but complain, while Utel is pragmatic and planning ahead. How will these two get along as their journey continues?
The long journey continues, with both sims becoming increasingly uncomfortable and dejected. By the time they arrive at their destination, Nork is beside himself, and Utel is exhausted. But… Will they be allowed to stay in this new land?
After their long journey, the two sims finally have found at least a temporary home. In full confidence that the chief will allow them to stay, Utel begins planting, while Nork spends his time with his new Fishermen club. However, Utel sees potential in Nork’s woodworking hobby, and asks for some Planter boxes. When she rewards him with a feast fit for a king, Nork finally starts to come around to vegetables… but is that romance in the air?
Utel and Nork are finally being officially welcomed into the village. But they’re still living in a tent… and now Utel is carrying a baby. Will Nork finally see the value in hard work and take the initiative to build them a hut?
With little Sazuul being a strong and healthy baby, Nork feels the need to help the tribe out with some more healthy babies. So he begins a quest to help populate the town – without bothering to ask anyone whether this quest is one people want or need…
The little family begins growing, now Sazuul has a little brother, who is the apple of his father’s eye. Nork’s quest continues, but he doesn’t leave his little family in the lurch, either, because he takes the time to build some expansions to their hut for the children.
Nork’s big quest continues, but now he’s also looking for the fish he is missing from his impressive collection. So, without a thought, he takes off to far-off lands to find it, leaving an overwhelmed Utel home alone with the children.
Nork is close to finishing his fishing quest, but the other quest and leaving his family behind is starting to weigh on his mind. He finds another receptive female, and brings his eldest along for some fishing mentoring, but what is next after he finishes his fishing quest??
Nork is at loose ends after finishing his fishing quest, so he redoubles his efforts to seemingly single-handedly populate the village. Unfortunately, this time… he gets caught. By his DAUGHTER! Sazuul, predictably, runs to her mother, confused at what she saw. What will Utel say??
Utel summarily kicked an unapologetic Nork out of his own house. Confused beyond belief, he went to the fishing camp with some of his friends, nursing his wounds along the way. Sazuul, who took her fishing lessons to heart, joins the fishing team the next day, and stays behind after work to question her father. What could he have to say for himself?
Utel is alone. And afraid. However, she steels herself up and gets down to work. Crop tending and child rearing to do, she shows how competent she can be. But inside, she’s hurt, confused, and devastated. Nothing Nork could ever say could make this right. Or could an old friend convince her otherwise?
Saelua, the village mystic, has passed away, and a ceremony is being held in her honor. All attend, with varying degrees of sadness. Sazuul notices a pretty face in the crowd, and lo and behold, it’s Saelua’s son. After the ceremony, our story zooms to another hut in town… where more repercussions of Nork’s actions are beginning to be seen.
Utel’s daily life continues. She’s exhausted, but she’s got no choice. Children and crops still need care. Sazuul helps when she can, but she has something new on her mind. With a sneaky, but appreciated gift to her mother, Sazuul convinces her mother to let her take off for the day, and she quickly heads across town. There’s someone she hopes is home…
Utel and Nork, through the convincing of others, have finally reconciled. Nork, now feeling a sense of purpose and responsibility, immediately starts arranging advantageous matches for his and Utel’s children. Gnaar accepts the match, but not without misgivings. What will he think of it now that he’s grown?
Island Spirits Segue/Timeline Children Prologue Uacro, the mystic’s adopted son sleeps fitfully usually, but tonight is different. His deep sleep gives way to his very first vision, clearly showing what needs to happen in the tribe. Convinced, Uacro wakes and heads to tell the chief the news…
Chapter 15/Timeline Children 1.1 Guar takes the news about as well as one can expect when being told you’re near death. And Utel and Nork also don’t like being told their eldest daughter will be leaving… so what is Uacro to do? Will his vision be as prophetic as it seems?! |
