Challenge Blogs

This section is dedicated to all my challenge attempts that I’m not writing a full-on story about. Usually I do these mostly in a commentary style, as it’s the easiest way to write them. I blog these challenges for two main reasons: 1, to keep a record of what I’ve done and where I am in the challenge; and 2, to share these challenges with other people. Since I have so many challenge attempts “in progress” I would NEVER be able to keep them all straight if I didn’t blog them. And so, you all get to enjoy reading along with my challenge hijinks!

Also: I have separated out the ones that are fully on hiatus (for whatever reason), and the ones that I’m 100% done with. I will attempt to make sure that the “landing” page for each of the challenges have info about whether they’re currently active or not, but if I forget, pay attention to the categories the stories are listed under, and anything with the “retired” or “on hiatus” categories will not be updated anytime soon. On a side note: the featured photo for this page is actually from one of my Streamed challenges, which will be in another section, but it’s so dang cute I couldn’t help using it!

The Ramblers

The Ramblers
I recently decided to re-start my Drifter Challenge due to a long hiatus (among other things). I created a new family, the Ramblers, and am sending miss Brianna out into the sims world to make her fortune and start a legacy. I elected to bulldoze everything except the special lots in Windenburg and the Pet Vet Clinic and deleted all pre-made townies. I've played enough with the townies and their houses that I have no intention of having them in my Rambler save, too. I didn't make any sims to join into the save (other than Brianna), electing to let the game spawn them as it will. I am also running this on "random".. basically all traits, aspirations, and lot traits will be rolled on createarandomsim.com ... the Drifter rules state changing aspirations can be done at any time, so it works out.. but the first aspiration picked as a teenager (that gives the trait) will be random. Being that vampires are disallowed, those three aspirations and the lot traits relating to vampires are excluded from the list of randoms. Update: I am still working on this. Since I’m more than halfway done with the challenge, it seems silly to stop, because I SO want to say I completed it. So, yeah.. It’s on my list.

Sheppard’s Decades

Sheppard’s Decades
This is the other half of my Decades Challenge War. “A Tangled Yarn” under the story section is the first half. This particular half of the challenge is played differently from Tangles, because I play it the “easy” way (from my experience).. By playing one generation per “decade” .. it’s not very realistic.. But it is an interesting take on the challenge. It eliminates the need to count the “years” by keeping track of sim days… but makes the challenge much longer. (Which is something that I’m good at doing - making challenges longer.) Another note: this challenge is tied up in another way with the “Tangles” story - at least one of the sims in the Sheppards’ family has jumped saves to marry into the Tangles family. (Which one? … you’ll have to read to find out, when I get it published.)

Who’s Crazy Now?

Who’s Crazy Now?
**ON HIATUS** So, I’m completely crazy.. and I’m trying out a concept that worked in Sims 3, but I have no idea if it’ll work in Sims 4. A Backwards ISBI. A What? .. Let me explain. (This is based entirely on the Sims 3 rules for a Backwards ISBI, with some changes by me to allow for the way the Sims 4 works.) The Premise: This is a seven generation challenge. In the I’m Surrounded By Idiots (ISBI) rules, you may only control the torch holder (TH). It is as the ISBI challenge except; Generation 1 (founder) must be created as an Elder. He must be male because female elders can not have children. He must find and woo a partner, have two children, and live until one is an Adult. Generation 2 takes over as TH on their Adult birthday. This means there is a good chance they have bad traits and/or little to no satisfaction points to spend on reward traits. This also means they have little time for the wooing process, though more than the first gen. They must live until one of their children is a Young Adult. Generation 3 takes over as TH on their Young Adult birthday. This will be standard for most simmers. Think of it as a break. Generation 4 takes over as TH on their Teen birthday. This means that the one essentially running the household has to balance school with it. They get more time to pursue their lives goals however. Generation 5 takes over as TH on their Child birthday. The challenge really starts up again. How will someone who can’t even cook run the household? Generation 6 takes over as TH on their Toddler birthday. You read right. Good luck. This is where the baby monitor will come in handy as it will let you call out for help when you need it. Generation 7 takes over as TH on their infant birthday. Almost the same as generation 6 but it can’t be left out. Once you have hit Elder you have “won”. But there is a bonus point. Try and live until one of the TH’s children reaches Elder. Full Circle! Whether this is even possible, I don't know. But I'm going to try to get it to work. Obviously, the regular ISBI rules are all in effect - with one notable exception. You can use as many Youth potions as you need, with not penalty to not "having used satisfaction points". If this wasn't changed, the BISBI wouldn't work at all. Once I finish this, I will try to post this as a variation for Sims 4 with alternate rules, but first I have to see how the whole thing works.... if it does.

I am a 47 year old American wife, mother, and gamer. I’ve lived in the Midwest most of my life, and enjoy it for the changing seasons. My favorite movie is Labyrinth, my favorite game is Sims 4, and I have tattoos related to both. My favorite colors are purple, red, and green. When I’m not playing games (which is rare) I also enjoy reading and crafting. I’m also an animal lover, and have had many types of pets over the years. Currently, I have a dog named Cassie who is a Jack Russel / Beagle mix and five young fancy rats (all of whom are rescues). I run this Sims 4 Blog where I post screenshots and stories about the different challenges I play. Also here are the Sims 4 challenges I've written, and a place for me to store all the Sims 4 knowledge I've gotten over the years. I am also a Sims 4/variety streamer on Twitch for my mental health, fun, and to meet new people. I am also in the EA Creator Network and an Ubisoft Partner, which is a dream come true! I look forward to meeting you!
