Legacy Challenges

This list is specifically a list of what I consider “shorter” gameplay challenges. These are all 11 generations (or less) challenges. All challenges included here are written, adapted or collaborated on by me over the years that I have been playing Sims 4. If you’re looking for a longer or more involved challenge, check out the two Epic Challenge sections below!

My history with challenges involves a LOT of starting challenges, and very little finishing them. I always find something I would like to change.. Or something that sounds better… so, I started writing my own challenges. It all began with the Apartment Switch, which is an original challenge based on the Drifter Challenge, and designed to be a continuation of that challenge. This challenge took me ages to write, and even longer to test and finally publish. But in the end, it was all worth it, because it’s a super challenge, and really makes use of the strengths of the City Living pack. After that, I dabbled with some other challenges, updated and changed the rules on some, and came up with a few others on my own. These include my Mermaid Legacy, as well as a collaborative werewolf legacy called the Lunar Lineage. Currently, I have another fully original concept challenge (my Misery2Mansions) in the works, as well as a super cool adaptation of the Asylum challenge that is interactive for streamers. Eventually, I will be making a version that will work for solo players, as well, which will be a lot of fun. Also have a possible idea for a Backwards ISBI challenge concept. So, feel free to look around, find something you like, and even take one of my ideas and make it yours. Just remember to credit me (and anyone else you use as the inspiration), and you can do what you like with my challenges! Welcome in!

The Apartment Switch Challenge

The Apartment Switch Challenge
Updated: 4/5/2023 - Updated for all current packs The Apartment Switch is a generational challenge all about building, decorating, making money, and most of all learning about the "City Living" Expansion for The Sims 4. As opposed to a normal 10 generation legacy, it is completed in 6 generations and focuses on your family (over time) rebuilding or redesigning all the lots and apartments in San Myshuno. It was heavily inspired by the Drifter Challenge by Vihisha Tak'Nai and the Movin' On Up challenge by ImaginingMystic. It also could be said there's a little of a Legacy Challenge by PinStar in it as well. It requires, obviously, that you own Sims 4 Base game and the City Living expansion, but can be completed without any others. The challenge takes place exclusively in the San Myshuno neighborhood in Sims 4, although travel to the other neighborhoods is not restricted. There are also two difficulties available for The Apartment Switch, Normal and Extreme, but I'll explain more about them later. As for other expansions, having or not having them won't make much difference in how the Challenge plays. I know that, in particular, the Seasons expansion will make things a lot harder on other challenges, but it definitely won't "break" The Apartment Switch, since apartments are largely indoors and you don't have to do much in the way of "Lawn Living." The only expansion that is expressly forbidden is Vampires, and I just restrict having vampires as a playable lifestate for the purposes of this challenge.

Mermaid Legacy Challenge

Mermaid Legacy Challenge
Updated 4/5/2023 - (Base game + Island Living necessary, all other packs are optional) This challenge, like my Apartment Switch Challenge, is based in one expansion. the full version (below) uses traits and jobs from other expansions, but I was careful to include directions for replacing the traits or jobs if you don't have those packs. At it's heart, this is a story of a family that starts from a single female human sim who has a dream to be a mermaid and pass on her legacy. It's based on a Matriarchy line, but I suppose you could change it to all males if you really wanted. Each generation is based on a color, and starts completely over on a new lot in Sulani. Eventually, your whole Sulani town will be filled with houses you built over the course of the challenge. The fun part about this challenge, is that not only do you have different goals for each challenge, it gets just a little bit harder each generation. It is actually an 11 generation challenge, because there's a Generation Zero - which is the human sim who has to find out how to become a mermaid.

Lunar Lineage: A Werewolf Legacy Challenge

Lunar Lineage: A Werewolf Legacy Challenge
Written by: Sovereign_Flower & IllusoryThrallUpdated: 10/19/24Hashtag: #lunarlineage Welcome to my newest project! A blogging friend of mine approached me recently about collaborating on a new legacy challenge, and I jumped at the chance. Now, a few weeks later, we're ready to reveal. I hope you all have as much fun playing this as we did writing it! Enjoy!! (Oh, and both of us are doing stories based on this challenge on our blogs, as soon as the stories go live, their links will be posted at the bottom of this page!) Background Story: Werewolves have been hunted to an apparent extinction in your world. However, you feel that maybe they still exist… and perhaps they are the key to finding out why you have always felt such a connection with the moon. You vow to find out for sure, and to research your mysterious family history. Perhaps you can even bring Werewolves back to the world and start a real legacy of your own. Challenge Description: This is an original 11-gen challenge (10 generations plus a Gen zero/prologue gen.) designed to help you explore the Werewolf pack (and its interactions with other occult states). This is why the other occult life states are highly recommended as must-have packs. Getting into character and role-playing along or writing a story (either literally or in your head) is highly encouraged, but not required. That being said: it’s also about having fun. With that in mind, feel free to adapt or change the rules as you see fit so that you can fully enjoy the challenge. The major difference in this legacy when compared to others you will find is that there are banned skills listed for each generation. These are to make it more difficult. Avoid using these skills, with the ultimate goal of keeping them under level 2. If you somehow accidentally get them to 2, it is not a challenge fail, but aim to keep the skill level on them as low as possible.

Misery2Mansions: A Sims 4 Farming Legacy

Misery2Mansions: A Sims 4 Farming Legacy
Written by: IllusoryThrallUpdated: 5/6/22 to add Gen 5Packs needed: Cottage Living & Seasons *Packs Recommended: Laundry, Outdoor Retreat, City Living, Jungle Adventures, & Island Living **Hashtag: #misery2mansions This is my new project - a new original concept challenge designed to show off the Seasons and Cottage Living packs. There are other packs that are recommended, but they aren't 100% required for play. (They will affect the difficulty if they're missing, though.) See the rest of this page for the reasons the packs are recommended or needed. This is a difficult challenge where you start out with the bare minimum to survive, and eventually - through unlocking items each generation - end up living in a mansion on a huge farm. Unlocks are done through Errands completed, ribbons won, skills maxed, money earned, and even Aspirations completed. Warning: this challenge is still under construction. As of this writing, only generations 1-5 are fully complete.

I am a 47 year old American wife, mother, and gamer. I’ve lived in the Midwest most of my life, and enjoy it for the changing seasons. My favorite movie is Labyrinth, my favorite game is Sims 4, and I have tattoos related to both. My favorite colors are purple, red, and green. When I’m not playing games (which is rare) I also enjoy reading and crafting. I’m also an animal lover, and have had many types of pets over the years. Currently, I have a dog named Cassie who is a Jack Russel / Beagle mix and five young fancy rats (all of whom are rescues). I run this Sims 4 Blog where I post screenshots and stories about the different challenges I play. Also here are the Sims 4 challenges I've written, and a place for me to store all the Sims 4 knowledge I've gotten over the years. I am also a Sims 4/variety streamer on Twitch for my mental health, fun, and to meet new people. I am also in the EA Creator Network and an Ubisoft Partner, which is a dream come true! I look forward to meeting you!
