Epic Challenges

I have a rather self-destructive tendency towards very long and involved challenges. Basically, I wanted something more out of each challenge. Not So Berry, I felt, needed to be updated for all the new packs and be a full tour of what the Sims 4 is about.. so that’s what I did. The Decades Challenge – wasn’t as realistic as I would have liked, it needed .. more death, more random-ness, and more historical events.. so that’s what I did. These challenges have become quite popular, so much so that there have been requests for my to “adopt” other long challenges that have been seemingly abandoned by their original authors. One in particular caught my eye as being something I was very much interested in – the Build a World Challenge – so I’m in the process of updating, adapting, and preparing it for a full launch on my site. Expect to see that soon after this website migration is complete. (The challenge will likely be ready mid to late November 2023.) Also, if you like what you see here, and want to expand on change something on ANY of my challenges, feel free – as long as you credit me for my ideas in your write-up!

Once I had updated a couple longer challenges, I braved making an epic challenge of my own. First it was the Master Simmer Challenge – a challenge about experiencing everything that Sims 4 has for you. Another Challenge that does this for you is one of my Adapted Challenges, my Extended Not So Berry (found in the next section). Then, I really went out on a ledge and went for a real tough challenge to write. This challenge, the Timeline Adventure Challenge, has become by “baby”. I adore it in so many ways. It’s a story, it’s a legacy, it’s a way to experience history, and it can be played in so many different ways. Going the full CC route is one of my favorite ways, but it’s entirely possible to play it without any CC at all. If you are in ANY way interested in history or story-telling, this is a challenge for you. Eventually, I’m sure, I’ll end up writing another crazy long challenge of my own, but for now, I’m pretty happy with the two I’ve got. Enjoy!

All Packs Extended Not-So-Berry 2.0 Challenge

All Packs Extended Not-So-Berry 2.0 Challenge
Fully Updated through Horse Ranch Pack (8/22/23)Main Rules and Gen 1-21 Updated through Adventure Awaits (10/16/25) Note: This is still under construction as of 8/3/2025. I will remove this notice when I'm done and update the above date.NOTE 2: THE TRACKER IS NOW LIVE! - https://www.simschallengetracker.com/challenges/not-so-berry-challenge-2-0 2.0 Progress Completion55% Pretty much every simmer out there has heard of the Not So Berry Challenge, even if they're not entirely sure of what it is. At it's heart, it's a legacy challenge about playing a different sim with different life goals each generation. However, the Not So Berry challenge has been out for so long that there have been MANY additions to Sims 4 since it was released. Plus, I know of a lot of players who get to the end of the challenge and are so attached to their family that they don't want to stop at ten generations. This adaptation solves that. I added in 20 more generations (as of 1/6/22) to account for the new packs, and gave each generation a color, a story and some unique goals to complete. Just for me, because apparently the challenge wasn't hard enough already, I also added some additional (optional) goals to the first 10 generations. I tried very hard to keep the spirit of the challenge intact, and to change as little as possible for the first ten generations out of respect for the original challenge. Anyway, I hope you like this! (I, for one, have had a blast playing this rule set!) Yes! That's right! This whole challenge is getting a facelift! I've acquired a partner who is (as we speak) working on putting together a WEB-BASED free tracking system for ALL of my challenges. The Extended Not So Berry is just the first of many to be added to her website. (See the main Website News page for more info on this partnership if you're interested!) Every Single generation here will be added to a tracking website, where you can register with a free account to track your Extended Not So Berry Challenge. And you DID read right! My ENSB is now 45 generations of drama and color-coded fun! As soon as I get it all updated and put on the website, each generation will have its own little section, split up by goal type, labelled as to what packs you need, and - the best part - LINKED to the tracking website from my partner, Calendula Petals. Not only that, but these pages are going to change fairly heavily in looks, as well. I'm calling this new version a full 2.0, after all.

Master Simmer Challenge

Master Simmer Challenge
Updated through High School Years 1/8/23 This challenge is all about doing everything - and I mean EVERYTHING - in the game of Sims 4. It's based off of the Absolute Master and the Achiever challenges, neither of which have been updated for the current expansions. The only thing I don't require is finishing ALL achievements and collecting ALL pet Traits. I will list them in case you want to collect them, but they are completely optional to get. Some achievements are really buggy - in particular, the legacy ones, so I'm not including them. Also, this is NOT played on a "point system", that would be way too complicated. The ultimate goal is to get it done in 26 generations... but it may be more depending on how you pace yourselves. (Update after Eco Lifestyle: With 80 goal sets if you have all expansions, I've been informed it IS still mathematically possible to get this challenge done in 26 generations, but it would be a VERY difficult challenge.)

Decades Challenge (Hard Mode) Rules

Decades Challenge (Hard Mode) Rules
Modified by IllusoryThrallUpdated through the 2020s and Horse RanchLast Update:8/12/23Share your creations on The Gallery with the hashtag #DecadesChallenge Warning: This is a challenge meant for mature audiences! I am not putting an age limit on it, but this challenge may not be for you if any of the following are true: You don’t like your sims dying. You don’t want to confront historical realities like racism, gender stereotypes, war, and other tough social issues. You don’t use mods at all. (CC is optional, MCCC as a mod is not) You’re not looking for a complex, rules-heavy, long challenge. So.. that being said, I would imagine you have already heard of the Decades Challenge before. It's been around for quite a while, and is basically taking one family from the 1890s to present day while trying to experience history as it was then. It's terribly hard to get game play or even the rules to be completely accurate, but myself - and all the other people who have worked on this challenge - have tried very hard to make it as accurate as possible. This version is an adaptation on the base rules by CuteCoffeGal (who has done an AMAZING job, by the way), adding in a whole lot of random rolls and challenges or problems for each decade. I used a couple other Decades-like challenges, and some of my own ideas. Also of note: this is the history from a Caucasian American perspective. If you're looking for another perspective, read on and check out some of the other links I have included in this first page.

I am a 47 year old American wife, mother, and gamer. I’ve lived in the Midwest most of my life, and enjoy it for the changing seasons. My favorite movie is Labyrinth, my favorite game is Sims 4, and I have tattoos related to both. My favorite colors are purple, red, and green. When I’m not playing games (which is rare) I also enjoy reading and crafting. I’m also an animal lover, and have had many types of pets over the years. Currently, I have a dog named Cassie who is a Jack Russel / Beagle mix and five young fancy rats (all of whom are rescues). I run this Sims 4 Blog where I post screenshots and stories about the different challenges I play. Also here are the Sims 4 challenges I've written, and a place for me to store all the Sims 4 knowledge I've gotten over the years. I am also a Sims 4/variety streamer on Twitch for my mental health, fun, and to meet new people. I am also in the EA Creator Network and an Ubisoft Partner, which is a dream come true! I look forward to meeting you!
