With my current boycott of Blizzard, I don’t feel I have the option to continue playing this on stream, but if that wasn’t the case, I definitely would schedule more days of this. I had so much fun, and I really enjoyed seeing where the story is going in StarCraft II. (Again, I had never played past the second campaign mission before this.) I very much look forward to the day I can revisit this game and see the rest of the story!!

Okay, I’ll be honest here – I did not expect to have fun going back to this game after all these years. However, what happened was the complete opposite. I had SO much fun. In fact, I went back and let my tower run over night a couple of nights, so it’s all ready for another day of streaming at some time. In other words, if I find another game that doesn’t hold my attention, I could easily pull out some SimTower to replace the second day of that game. The game-play is still addicting, challenging, and engrossing. It 100% holds up to my memory of the game, and it was really fun to see how many people had also been hooked on this game at some point in their life. Disclaimer: I do NOT support Blizzard anymore, and will not be doing so until they change their leadership. This are games that I bought long before the whole … hullabaloo … started, so there is no current financial (or sentimental) support involved.
All that being said, this will be the first time I’ve actually played a Blizzard game since all the controversy started, and it feel incredibly weird. However, if I doing a retrospective on my gaming career, I must include Blizzard games…. I have lost months of my life to their games, including the first Starcraft. I never got into the second one, but I figure I might as well give it a go for a while as an honorable mention on Tuesday since I don’t plan to play SimTower on both days.

To put this game into perspective, I started playing it before I was out of high school. It was literally one of my first video games that I was actually allowed to play…. and started my obsession with all games starting with the word: “Sim”. Although – looking back, I don’t know how I managed to have time to play it while doing all the things I did during high school (horse showing/training, usually more than one to two jobs…. on top of the usual high school grind and hanging with friends). Anyway… I am not the only person I know who was obsessed with this game back then. Hopefully re-visiting it won’t be too terrible!

This was a fun game to re-visit. Well, both of them were. More-so Societies. That one will be getting some more off screen play time from me in the near future. Given the choice between SimCity and Cities: Skylines, I would play Cities Skylines every time. But if you’re looking for a simpler simulation, SimCity is definitely it. I didn’t do any play of the DLC content on stream, but that really does change the entire game, and is fun to mess with. On the topic of Societies, though… that really is a fun game. I managed to get it digitally on Origin the weekend before the stream, and couldn’t resist. It’s a super fun building game that really does change everything (even the UI and the music) when you build a city to a different core value or theme. I once did a spooky city with just the spooky items, and it got all foggy and creepy looking. Was lots of fun. I had equally as much fun getting the trophy I got on my Tuesday playthrough, and I look forward to trying to get some more. It may be an old game, but it was easy to install, and not too hard to pick up the idea of the game – highly recommend. Both days are now uploaded to youtube, and are linked below.

I think the fact that I only made it through a few hours of the game, and then switch to Medieval Dynasty speaks volumes about this game. As much as it holds a place in my heart, it’s also a game that requires a lot of luck, coordination, and skill. … Which adds up to a super frustrating combination. It was definitely fun to revisit it, but will I ever finish the game? … Nope. I couldn’t even get past the first few chapters of the game, never mind getting to end game.
