To put this game into perspective, I started playing it before I was out of high school. It was literally one of my first video games that I was actually allowed to play…. and started my obsession with all games starting with the word: “Sim”. Although – looking back, I don’t know how I managed to have time to play it while doing all the things I did during high school (horse showing/training, usually more than one to two jobs…. on top of the usual high school grind and hanging with friends). Anyway… I am not the only person I know who was obsessed with this game back then. Hopefully re-visiting it won’t be too terrible!
SimTower is a hugely popular game from my youth. It came out in 1994, and was originally designed as an elevator sim… but it was far more than just that. Reviews, amazingly, were generally positive, and the way the game was super open ended pulled you in for multiple playthroughs. Beyond just managing your elevators, you had to be careful not to over-extend yourself, and I remember many a night leaving the game running to amass money for the next day’s play session. (A technique that I assure you I did not think of on my own.)
Games have changed a LOT since then. My hours into this game only started an obsession, but there are some rose-colored glasses here, I think. I do not expect to get hooked back into this game… Hence me only planning to play it on Monday. Tuesday will be an “honorable mention” game – which I will be announcing/publishing in a moment.
(Will be posted after the final “play” day for this game.)
